Minutes of the September 9, 2008 Meeting

 

The meeting was called to order at 7:30 p.m. by President Thad Crowe.  The pledge of allegiance was given and a moment of silence was observed for those serving to protect our country.

 

Announcemnets:

 

The July and August minutes were approved.

 

Carole McCleery gave the Treasurer’s Report.  We have a total balance of $2061.85 in the budget.

 

Milissa Holland announced that the Mayor had assured that the water tower would be painted over as soon as possible.

 

Alma Nemrava announced the following:  Sept. 16 Hammock Woman’s Association meeting to be held at 7:00

                                                               Sept. 20 HCCC will join the annual International Great Coastal Cleanup

                                                               October 7 HCCC meeting Flagler Property Appraiser Jay Gardner will explain the                                                   Proposed Constitutional Taxation Amendments that will be voted on Nov. 4

                                                              Oct. 11 HCCC will have quarterly A1A cleanup

                                                               Nov. 11 HCCC Meeting speaker will be local historian Sisco Dean on Early Hammock                                                 History.

 

Thad Crowe announced that the HCCC Steering Committee would be meeting at 7:00 on Mon Sept. 16.  Everyone was invited to attend.

 

Program:

Dennis Clark gave a presentation on neighborhood committee recommendations on Future Hammock Growth.  You can find his power point presentation on the HCCC website at HammockCCC.org

 

The floor was open to questions or comments.  There was lively debate with primary concerns about the Greenway Enhancement Rationale (which can be seen in the PPP).  The consensus of the HCCC was to continue researching and developing plans to be shared as progress is made. 

 

Property owners shared their concerns about zoning and property taxes.

 

Alma Nemrava announced that in addition to Jay Gardner's presentation on Constitutional Tax Referendums, at the October 7 meeting, HCCC will release the six County Commissioners' answers to their level of commitment on our parks, growth and drainage goals.

 

Thad Crowe adjourned the meeting at 8:55
